I use it to carry my work gear through the airport mostly, so I can’t attest to its ability to not hurt my back over a long period of time. I have mine set up so that I can still use my retractable handle and the wheels still function. I guess if you plan to climb a mountain with your dslr and a drone for no reason other than instagram likes, invest in a pelican backpack instead. Stop expecting a $100 strap system to save your life.

I have just received it and it seems to be fairly comfortable however I have not had much of a chance to test it. I did not have any issues with getting the straps around the wheels but the buckles that are used to adjust the straps for the most part run the webbing through twice. This can make it difficult to do the initial attachment due to the straps at the top have to be extended either around the extending handle or further and through the carrying handle. You have to remove one of the webbing loops from the lower buckles to get them around the wheels then put it back through the buckle with the other webbing still through it. Due to this re-threading it can be annoying to attach and remove, I had to use a multi-tool to get them through. One of the perks the maker says is that it can be removed and stored in the pack but it is not an option I can see happening if say you were trying to take it off on the fly to get it to store better on an airplane. The Pelican 1510 that I have it attached to is TSA compliant so it will be used as a carry-on. Due to this I have ordered some locking cam buckles to replace the upper and lower buckles to make installing and removing easier. I have not received them yet so I can’t say the effectiveness of them.

Absolute garbage, it takes 40 mins to completely undo all the straps and assemble on the case. Way overpriced for how little thought is put into it.
A better solution: I found a way to hook a generic shoulder strap into the handle of the 1510 Pelican and have been using that to great effect climbing up and down mountainsides.
Avoid this product like the plague.

What a wonderful backpack solution for hardcases! Once it’s on, It’s ready for adventure, and I feel it holds the heavy weight of my Peli securely. The straps are very well made, have inner solid reinforcement and are comfortable to wear. The slender profile of the product allows them attach temporarily and then are easy to remove and store away when not needed. I am totally happy, it’s a really clever design that doesn’t require any modifications to the case nor do they damage the case in anyway. They are all I would need for when I travel

This product is a must have. I purchased it to put on my pelican 1535 air carry on baggage. It takes minutes to install to allow the box to be carried as a backpack. Easy to remove if you decide to roll the pelican as well. Worked so well ordered a second one for my partner.

PRO TIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: IF YOU STILL WANT TO BE ABLE TO ROLL YOUR BAG, THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY REMOVING THE WHEELS (screwdriver required) AND THEN FISHING THE STRAPS UNDER THE REMOVABLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT HOLDS THE WHEELS IN AND THEN SCREW THE PLASTIC PIECE BACK IN TO LOCK IT IN PLACE INSTEAD OF WRAPPING IT AROUND THE WHEEL. AFTER THAT, LOCK THE END OF THE STRAP WITH THE CLIP PROVIDED (see photo)! 😀
Sorry about all the caps but I feel like nobody else has mentioned this and it’s super useful! I can wear it as a backpack and then take it off and roll it around! Most people seem to think this is impossible. My backpack is SUPER heavy too. Just packed full of heavy lenses, battery banks, metal parts, etc. I also literally filled this backpack with rocks once (long story) and the straps stayed in place! So this definitely works!

Edit: I loved this item so much I ordered 5 more so I can convert all of my PELICAN 1535 cases. I use these cases to transport sensitive artifacts that are being returned/repatriated back to Hawai‘i where they were taken without consent. These conversion kits add confort as well as additional security.

Since adding the straps to my pelican case 1535 this will be the last gear backpack that I buy. It rolls, I carry it on my back, waterproof. Holds a whole kit and I couldn’t be happier. A bought another set of straps to build out another backpack like this one to use for company specific shoots and at least two of my friends will be building out similar bags with these straps. Absolutely recommend.
