This is my third Humvee vest and the 7th vest I have purchased for photography. 5 of the 7 have been lightweight, less expensive nylon/polyester. The two that have not fallen apart are this Humvee and my first Rothco “Uncle Milty,” made of cotton and similar sturdy fibers. The natural fibers need treatment for water resistance and are heavier.
The design with deep pockets is ideal for photo gear, and the zippers and velcro are larger and sturdier than most. The pockets are just right for lenses, batteries, cell phone, etc.
My only complaint is about the epaulets, which are now just a fashion statement. On the lightweight Humvee, the epaulet lifted to hold a camera strap in place on your shoulder. This one is sewn on the full length and unsnaps to allow only a cord or very thin strap. Too bad. Still, I’m happy overall.
