   I still have the Redwing I got back in 2006, so far I love this new Redwing version. The upper side pockets are larger than the 2006 version, I love the fact that the water bottle side pockets are no longer a mesh which tends to snag in tree branches and gear. The main compartment zipper is not as heavy duty as the 2006 version, but I believe Kelty stop using the heavy duty zippers a while ago. I owned three Kelty backpacks, I like their quality for a reasonable price. Color is olive green not “Tactical” grey

   I researched this pack and many others for a long time while trying to make a decision on the right bag for me and now that I have this backpack in hand I know I made the right decision. I wanted this bag to be able to fill a number of roles. It is my backpack-camping pack, my winter search and rescue bag and a bag for carrying my .22lr rifle on hiking/hunting trips. This pack does it all – it’s able to hold a ton of weight and can be cinched down to hold small loads too. The molle webbing on the hip belt and bottom, as well as the extra heavy duty construction/materials set this bag apart from the original Kelty Redwing and pretty much every other hiking bag I looked at. It doesn’t scream TACTICAL either. I am very pleased with this purchase.

   High quality construction, good frame, great padding/straps. Neutral/Green-Grey color is nice. Side pockets are a bit small and do not fit 24 oz (+) water bottles, and lower mesh pockets are shallow. Generally happy with purchase, and would recommend to others. Size is medium – meaning you can carry 1-3 days supplies (not practical [quite large] if you’re looking for a pack to carry to work/commute, and in the small end of the spectrum for prolonged backpacking trips).

   Amazing backpack. Very well built. Extremely comfortable. Thick padding. Roomy. Great color. Hip belt is very comfortable. The only con to this bag is the handle. Very tiny carry handle on top for such a large bag. Very skinny and small. Other than that. Bag is perfect

   I travel a lot so I need a bag that’s durable but comfortable enough to carry around for long periods of time, this bag is IT! But one thing I noticed right after receiving it is the color, it’s much darker than what’s in the photo. Having said that, this bag is a winner!

   Compression straps began pulling out on the first outing. Bag didn’t have much in it and was only a short walk to camp. Not the Kelty quality I’m used to. Very disappointing especially for the price.

   1.yes it is carry on size
   2.It is is really comfortable for long trips
   3.there is a unholy amount of straps on it and they have 0 way to store them so you will look like you robbed a rope store
   4. It doesn’t open all the way
