   Great tool I’ll add my 2 cents to the thousands of MoraKniv fans – count me amongst you!! The sheath is solid, hold the knife firmly, I have no fears that the knife will come out accidentally. Very solid affirmative “click” on insert and requires a pretty firm tug to unsheath. Very satisfied with the sheath. The holder for the ferous rod is also smartly designed and again I’m sure it’s secure. The integrated stone is a nice touch – sure it’s small and not as easy to use as your large stone on your bench at home but in the field this is great – I had no trouble touching up my edge after use. The knife itself feels great in my hand, balanced, and sufficient but not excessive weight – very practical- the grip is also very well thought out. I wear an xl glove and this knife is a good fit – could be fatter for me but it’s not a custom knife and my hand didn’t tire after using the knife for a few hours. The top of the knife is a square cut to allow good strikes on the ferous rod – it works extremely well and I’ve started several fires with just dry shavings the knife produced hit with a shower of sparks. Note though that if you don’t want to start fires with the ferous rod then perhaps this isn’t the knife for you as that back edge is actually sharp. When working with a knife I often have my hand or fingers on that back edge and I found that quite uncomfortable with the ground edge – not a defect at all, it was designed that way – just a trade off – want to start fires or use both hands on the blade??? The ferous rod itself is the traditional size and has a useful “handle” for your thumb and finger. Once you get good at using these the smaller the better. Great knife, glad I have it – I have several more on order!

   I was carrying the Morakniv light my fire edition. I went to this variation so that I could do batoning thanks to its full and thicker tine. The sharpener is a nice bonus as are the different connection options. As with all Moraknivs the design is well thought out and the craftsmanship great. I used a Japanese whetstone to put a razors edge on this puppy and so far it has held that edge through batoning and usage (I just strop it here and there). The fire starter is great and solid, the 90 degree backbone of the tine allows simple sparking of the ferro rod . I like the holder for the firestart, though you may want to take advantage of the hole they put in it and put a loop of string (though I think it would be almost impossible for it to work itself out). The blade itself slides into the sheath and once clicked you know it will never come out without intention. My only issue is that it is harder to pull out than the Morakniv Light My Fire Edition which had a thumb rest to gain leverage from when removing the knife.
   I have an OKC Blackbird SK5 bushcraft knife in a HedgeHog Leather Works sheath that is my heavy duty bush craft knife, but I can’t carry that in all the places I do this Morakniv

   Very difficult for me to rate since I just got it today for my son. Intent was to teach him how to use it for fire starting and camping general necessities. Turns out, the knife has a west mark/peeling on the hilt (see pic and my rudimentary circle). It’s already a small divot in the rubberized handle and I think it’s from the sheath molding but not 100%. Regardless, to never be used and have a concern always raises questions. And for the record, I got the carbon Garberg model for myself and that is perfectly fine. This bushcraft may still function just fine but wish it wasn’t blemished out of the packaging.

   I teach Wilderness Survival to our Cadets (Civil Air Patrol, NC) and a large part of this training is fire starting using only your knife and a ferro rod. I own a dozen different Mora Knives and this is the best one by far, I like it so much that I not own three (3) of them. I make my own sheaths because I it holds a larger ferro rod.

   Ottimo coltello arcinoto, l’ho preso qui su githubja.com per via del prezzo super competitivo al momento del mio acquisto. Nel kit vi è il coltello, un firesteel e una pietra diamanta integrata nel fodero. Il colore ha il suo perchè, impossibile perderlo sotto il fitto fogliame. L’acciaio usato è il classico 12c27…..non brilla per tenuta del filo e doti di taglio ma è comunque un acciaio di tutto rispetto che non ossida e che si riaffila a guardarlo.

    I have the orange version as a truck/trunk knife. This is a lot easier on the eyes but otherwise they are the same and far far more knife than the price would lead one to believe. The sharpener could be handy, the ferrocium rod is held tight and quality, the knife is amazingly comfortable in all grips, stout, with a light stropping scary sharp and holds a good edge, the spine is squared off for use with the ferro rod but works well to debark sticks for skewers and other jobs. Its a heavy duty knife, i have been tempted by the full tang garberg but love the handle of these and its burly enough to do anything – cant imagine how you could break it, easily handles batoning if thats your thing. Superb knife and good sheath…
