Nice little hiking/outdoor knife. Typical Ontario quality, my third spec plus series, also have the sp-1 and sp-2. This is a light weight, short bladed spear point knife with ample handle length for even large hands. Coated 1095 steel takes a good edge and and seems to hold it well. I trimmed the thumb guard down a bit for better handling, only other mod plan is to remove coating, not a big fan of coated blades. Knife has no jumping but not a distraction to me, also don’t expect to baton firewood, but again a great little day hiker.Sheath is a bit bulky in my opinion, makes knife appear larger than it is, but does what it needs to do. I would think this would be a more popular knife, but i guess everyone thinks they need a 1/4 inch sharpened prybar to have enough knife. I’m delighted with this purchase, a great value for about $40.00.

A quality American made knife. It is a sharp blade with good symmetry and edge retention. My only gripe is the kraton guard. A metal guard would be better choice. Maintenance tip: 5160 steel rusts easily so a constant oiling regiment is highly suggested.

No complaints but the condition of the edge of the blade, which arrived dangerously dull.

The SP14 is a nice little work knife, with a long flat grind, but there is no way in heck that I can get the snap on the sheath to close. The strap is just too short. Let’s have a little quality control, ok Ontario?

This is a great little tool to stash. Well worth the $$, which seems to be ever more difficult to say these days. Would recommend to anyone looking for a small fixed blade knife. Holster is fine, and can be used for drop leg or boot stash

Ideal utility/bushcraft knife. Short, stout drop-point blade was delivered serviceably sharp. Great quality carbon steel, tough protective coating. Handle is long enough for big hands, krayton is grippy and nicely grooved, comes to hand perfectly and has a slim profile that improves carry options. Aluminum buttcap for light pounding/crushing. Full tang and decent blade thickness for light prying and dependability. Field dressing, food processing, tinder and kindling work, cutting cordage, notching, leather work, you name it… tough, versatile, easy to pack tool. Sheath is an afterthought… too wide, too long, too loose, lets knife rattle, seems made for some other product. Cost the total rating a star, but the knife itself completely fills the light utility/bushcraft niche.

This knife is literally a diamond in the rough. I received mine 6/8/18. It was somewhat sharp out of the box, just not exceedingly so. I ran it across my Japanese water stones that I use for my chefs’ knives. I then finished it to a fine edge using black hard Arkansas stone. Ended up with a scapel. The sheath is not as bad as others have claimed it to be. It IS a tight fit. But, once you get it to snap once; it becomes considerably easier to employ after that. Basically, for 50 bucks; you get a very serviceable field knife. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good fixed blade.
