   I’ve mostly been given cheap lights and mostly went to Fénix when I decided to buy my own. I purchased both this P18 and the MH25S. I really liked the video the company put out on YouTube for both but this light specifically. Now in hand, I feel the form factor is very satisfying if a bit rough around the edges, physically and functionally. The first light I got from them was the Tini 2 if memory is correct and I thought the build and UI was good for its purpose, nice little light. The design of this light makes for a very nice grip feel but I’ve not been happy with the function and feel of the buttons or performance of the red light but some of my issues are non applicable given the target market, just stuff I want. So what gripes do I have? To start, the main button has a nice size to it and going wide seems like a great idea as it gives good flexibility for thumb placement. My problem here is with the half click function. I don’t know how many of you guys have used mechanical keyboards but I fell like this button should have had some type of tactile bump/resistance given its multi-purpose use. I just can’t see myself going back to normal keyboards after given mechanical a shot and I wish this button gave me that type of experience. While I can get somewhat accustomed to using thumb angles so that the edge of my thumb functions as a midway stop, I can’t stop but think this should be something that could use improvement if not an entire redesign. Maybe splitting it in half with a metal separator in the middle a bit lower than the buttons and giving them some outward angles and extra surface could work. That should also help glove users I would think. You could also switch from a long throw full/midway press switch to a short throw 1/2 click switch but it could suffer the same issues depending how it’s done. I’m not sure but I’m not too happy with it. How about the red light? For starters, it feels like a cheap afterthought. I’ve purchased LED’s for Arduino projects and this light looks and performs like some of the cheap projects I’ve built. The light has no significant optics and the button placement and shape feels like it needed some more love in the oven. There’s a lag to turning it on but being an officer inspired product, I don’t know exactly what is by design and requested by them, I just don’t like the lag. Trying to position the light to have access to this button and the main button is more finicky and looking at the YouTube video of the light, the way I want to hold it seems to be the correct way and the OP for this video has talked about not wanting to break grip being a feature of some tactical designs so not sure what’s going on here. Again, maybe user error or by design and requested but I just don’t like it. I doubt the weak performance is by design tho… So how do I feel about this light in summery? Positives •Love the size and shape •Like the performance of the main light •Like the placement and design of main switch Negatives •Main button multi-use implementation •Poor red light performance •Poor red light interface Neutral(Light isn’t targeted for me) •Can’t default to beacon on start •Red light lag to turn on Wish •Would love to see this type of light using 21700 cells without increasing the size too much •Allowing custom programming would be delicious. For my use, having it default start on beacon and cycling turbo>high>mid>low/moonlight would be awesome. Even better would be beacon>turbo>mid. Maybe using the Arduino software when connected to a PC could be worked in somehow?

   Fits in the hand perfectly (medium glove size). Great ergonomics. The soft-click toggle between light modes takes a little to get used to. Bought the “tactical” attachment and the light makes for a decent last-ditch kubaton.

   So far so good. Another robust hitec super tactical pocket flood light. With very high lumens. 1800lm cool white flood for short burst use. Can get a little bit from such a small light that can fit in a short pocket. It can easily project a large flood like hotspot out to 30- 50 yards no problem. Cuts through the woods in my dense woody area. I carry this light as part of my rotating EDC of lights. Like with M2t Olight warrior (which i reviewed well.) I like both lights. One group charges the other group goes out for EDC. Switch takes some time to get used to. Just like the Olight Warrior Pro series. The Nitecore has an unusual switch configuration. But I have gotten used to it now. I like it. I will update this review regarding any long term reliability issues. But i believe it will function till the time they get super cool handling lights that put out twice as much power and runtime.

   I love how compact this little is. And for its size, it’s really bright. It has a great floody beam that lets you see everything in your immediate area.

   Received package with box damaged/previously opened, and battery missing.
   I obtained one 18350 battery and installed, and the light would not turn off.
   I obtained two c1230 batteries with the same result.
   I will be returning this.
