I own more expensive knives, but this design is the first and only knife that is truly operable with one hand. Pull the knife from your pocket, open it, make your cut, close it, return it to your pocket… all with one hand. This is a replacement for an almost identical assisted folding knife with safety lock. The only reason that I needed a replacement is because the detent on my original knife safety wore away from 13 years of use. The safety lock easily… too easily… slipped off and the blade opened in my pocket. I will be more than satisfied if I can get another decade of use out of this one.

Smith and Wesson is usually a pretty solid brand in my experiences. I own another pocket knife of theirs, the ‘Cuttin Horse’, so I figured that the SWMP6s M and P knife would be decent quality too… Surprisingly enough it not only met, but even exceeded my expectations. The lock functions perfectly, and the assisted opening opens the blade fully. It is very easy to open and close this knife using only one hand with little effort. Unlike other customers however, I have no issue with the clip or any of the screws for the clip at all.

The built quality is great but the lock feature is sometimes spotty, the switch sometimes becomes loose but it’s not a deal breaker. Just be careful it’s very sharp! Great for cutting up boxes. I highly recommend.

This knife is extremely sharp. The open-assist is excellent, and it really springs into place. Closing it is easy one-handed, but you have to be REALLY careful, because like I mentioned, this knife is so sharp that even a slight knick with barely any pressure on my pinky caused my skin to be sliced open slighty, as can be seen in my photo. However, when handled properly this is an EXCELLENT knife and I am sure it would help you in a self defense situation when you have to fight off 47 ninjas. However, for any other scenarios, this knife is a perfect tool for cutting open boxes or packages.
I cannot recommend this knife enough!

I really like this knife. The serration is an interesting style on the blade. So far seems like a solid well built tactical knife. I absolutely love S&W’s MAGIC opening system! The last S&W blade with MAGIC assist, came in a hard plastic package with the knife open, as it should be. This I ordered twice. The first that came had a couple defects. githubja.com promptly replaced it. Second knife is better, but both came in a small box, folded closed(which weakens the assist spring when left in closed position). Also S&W box says made in China, also it came fairly dull. Once you get an edge on it, it seems to hold the edge. Love the handle. The looks, and good ergonomic feel to it. Package and sell with the blade open would make a good change, but I recommend this knife. Knife also has a double lock system. Liner lock like most tactical, and a switch lock for the MAGIC assist. Will not open or close with switch engaged and liner lock for backup.

Was looking for a relatively inexpensive pocket-knife and decided on this one. So far it works as advertised. The assisted-opening feature is very fast and opens the knife fully every time. The “safety” does what it’s supposed to. The handle seems a little wide, so if you wear tight-fitting clothing that may be an issue to you. It’s not an issue to me so I have no complaints about it. I typically use pocket-knives for “light work” (i.e. opening boxes, etc…), so I can’t comment as to how it will hold up to real “abuse”, but for what I intend to use it for, it’s fine by me. Cool looking and does what it’s supposed to…no complaints here.

Very nice, it needed a little sharpening, it lost it’s edge pretty fast but if polished not bad, I like the safety on this a lot very smooth and powerful, but the switch lever in the back had failed recently, but overall a nice tool just must caution on being more gentle with the switch in the back for that is the only part that has failed in my abuse.

Great Knife, good spring assisted blade and holds a good sharp edge. No this is not a switch blade when it takes a bit of finger pressure to enact the spring, but does spring out well into a locking position, very fast. A switchblade is a usually a button on the knife handle that has to be touched without hardly any pressure at all, This blade swings open with the help of a spring and doesnt conceal the blade within the handle. That usually is the big difference between spring assist and a switch blade. I love all Smith & Wesson SWAT, M.A.G,I.C. and M&P knives. Great Quality at a decent price.
