   I bought a first-generation G2X tactical (200 lumen) right when they came out, and since then I’ve held the belief that the SureFire single-output LED lights are the only way to go if you want a handheld light for serious use. I just received the G2ZX (320 lumen) which I think is the perfect balance of efficiency, regulated runtime, output, and cost. I also think the “combatlight” handhelds are the pinnacle of SureFire’s design. I am unaware of any other manufacturer that makes syringe-body single-output tactical lights. Luckily, SureFire nails it with this one. The LED is well centered, the reflector has a nice orange-peel and focus, and the original surefire U/I tailcap (push-for-momentary, twist-for-constant) is still perfect. The G2ZX definitely has less output than my P2ZX Fury, but it should get much better battery life. And since the emitter is smaller, it doesn’t require such a huge reflector. I think this is the best no-BS tactical flashlight available, especially at the current price. It would be a close call with the P2ZX Fury, but good luck finding one of those!

   I have several now, the price and power is pretty unbeatable. I like to throw a Thyrm switchback on them to make it easier to handle, if you haven’t seen ‘em check it out hopefully this doesn’t get me in trouble lol but the flashlights are pretty much indestructible, I love 123a batteries despite the price they have 10 year shelf life so take my word for it always buy the branded 123a surefire sells they’re the best. Low light is awesome for not draining batteries and being usable, bright is “holy bleep” bright so you won’t be lacking. Highly recommend having 1 or more in your car, house, purse/bag etc. you never know when you will need a real flashlight and iPhone flashlight doesn’t cut it

   Surefire makes a good product and they stand by it. I am sure this light will last me many years with daily use. Just the right amount of throw and spill for an EDC light. Plus, it’s US made. I like to buy American when given a choice.

   Only small gripe is battery life. It’s good, but not great. Low mode is perfect for indoor dark spaces, or very close in your lap sort of things, but that’s about it. High mode is awesome, but usually a bit more than I really need, and at the expense of battery life.

   I wish more manufacturers made quality lights with a more modest output (like 2-300 lumens) and good battery life, rather than focusing on high output. But I guess the marketing guys feel like that’s what sells.

   This is a decent quality light, plenty bright for most of my needs, feels good in the hand. Can also run off of a 16650 rechargeable battery. However it is expensive for what it is. I would recommend the Streamlight Polytac over this as it’s less expensive and has a better user interface and is programmable

   The premium flashlight category has gotten very competitive over the years, and while Surefire quality remains superb, they have quite a few competitors now in their space. And it’s against the backdrop of competing lights that the G2X Pro–a dual-level light with a polymer plastic body–seems very expensive at its $90 list price. (Which is often what it sells for.)

   Don’t get me wrong–this is a nice, well-balanced light in a great EDC size that performs as advertised–but I couldn’t recommend it at $90. Fortunately, githubja.com often discounts the light, and if you can grab it when it’s down to $60, then its simple operation, minimal features and plastic body make a lot more sense. The high visibility yellow is a great color which should insure that you’ll always be able to find this flashlight when you need it.

   I’ve owned a couple dozen flashlights in my lifetime, the only flashlight that hasn’t failed to date is the Surefire. The G2X Pro series is nice and compact. Has a good balance between brightness and battery run time. Virtually indestructible, mines been dropped from 10 feet to concrete floors, dropped in water, left outside, still works as great as the day I got it. Photo shows the Desert Tan color just purchased, plus an older G2X that’s been heavily used on a nearly daily basis these last 3 years.

    Let me start by saying that this review started harsh because I own so many Surefire flashlights and always received quality. I bought this because the Surefire G2X Pro is my absolute favorite. I choose it for work over my E2D Defender because it’s brighter. But I really wished my G2X Pro would come on High mode first. So the LE really peeked my interest. Boy, did this new “LE” model disappoint me. The LED quality is terrible. Look at the picture I posted. To the left is my Surefire G2X Pro (320 lumen) and to the right is the Surefire G2X LE (400 lumen). The pure white output of the Pro is far superior than this green crap the LE puts out. These are the LEDs that the cheap Chinese flashlights come with! And is the LE even brighter? I honestly can’t tell a difference being that the pure white light of the Pro is so much clearer that I can actually see further with it. Shame on you Surefire for going cheap…. EDIT 9/15: Surefire completely replaced my entire flashlight free of charge for the same model but made sure the one they gave me gave out a light with a pure white tint. And boy did it. It’s not warm, it’s not cool, it’s perfect. Surefire, you had me worried, but you pulled through! I was unable to get pictures of the two “LE”s side by side. But trust me, if you experience any bad tint with Sirefire just hit them up!

    Good work light, solid, dependable and bright. When you depend on a flashlight for safety or even your life, this one is on a very short list. Only downside is, it eats up bateries even when not in use. Keep some handy in your work bag.
